Plagiarism and AI Authorship Policy
At Publibre, we uphold the highest standards of integrity, originality, and academic honesty.
Every submission, whether literary or scholarly, must reflect authentic human effort, proper attribution, and respect for intellectual property. This policy outlines our position on plagiarism, AI-generated content, and ethical authorship practices.
1. Plagiarism Policy
1.1 Definition
Plagiarism includes but is not limited to:
· Using another author’s words, ideas, or creative expressions without proper citation.
· Copying text, graphics, or data from any source without acknowledgment.
· Self-plagiarism (reusing significant portions of one’s own previously published work without citation).
Publibre treats all forms of plagiarism — intentional or unintentional — as serious ethical misconduct.
1.2 Plagiarism Limit & Screening
· Submissions are screened using advanced plagiarism detection tools.
· A similarity index of up to 15% is generally acceptable, provided:
o Overlaps are due to references, quotations, or commonly used phrases.
o No continuous or significant portions of text are directly copied.
If similarity exceeds 15%, the editorial team will review the context:
o If justified (e.g., theoretical overlap, methodology, quoted material), the manuscript may still proceed after correction.
o If unjustified or excessive, the manuscript will be returned for revision or rejected outright.
1.3 Consequences of Violation
If plagiarism is detected:
· The manuscript will be immediately rejected or sent back for correction (depending on severity).
· Authors found to have intentionally plagiarized will be blacklisted from future submissions.
· Their names and details may be added to Publibre’s internal record of misconduct and, if necessary, reported to relevant institutions or publishers.
· Previously published works found plagiarized may be retracted with a public notice on the Publibre website.
Publibre reserves the right to take editorial and legal action in cases of proven misconduct.
2. AI Authorship & Responsible Use of Technology
2.1 Position Statement
Publibre acknowledges that AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, etc.) can assist in language refinement, grammar correction, and idea structuring. However, AI cannot replace authorship — the creativity, reasoning, and intellectual contribution must always come from the human author.
2.2 Acceptable Use of AI
AI assistance is permitted for:
· Grammar and stylistic improvements
· Language polishing or paraphrasing small segments
· Data visualization or reference management tools
If AI has been used in these ways, the author must disclose it in the acknowledgment or a short statement such as: “This work has benefited from AI-based language editing tools for grammar and clarity.”
2.3 Unacceptable Use of AI
AI-generated text, images, data, or ideas that are presented as the author’s own without disclosure are considered academic misconduct.
Publibre prohibits:
· Submitting fully or majorly AI-generated manuscripts or chapters.
· Using AI tools to fabricate data, citations, or research findings.
· Employing AI to mimic or reproduce another person’s creative or academic style.
If AI-generated content is found:
· The manuscript will be rejected immediately.
· Authors may be blacklisted for future submissions.
· If already published, the book will be retracted and replaced with a public notice.
3. Author Responsibility
Authors are required to:
· Verify and ensure all citations are accurate and properly formatted.
· Run plagiarism checks before submission.
· Disclose the use of any AI tools in the preface, footnote, or acknowledgment section.
· Understand that ultimate accountability for the content rests with the human author(s).
4. Editorial Rights & Verification
Publibre reserves the right to:
· Recheck manuscripts for plagiarism or AI-generated material at any stage — pre-publication or post-publication.
· Retract, correct, or publicly annotate works found in violation.
· Maintain internal records of policy breaches to uphold community trust and credibility.
Our Commitment
Publibre’s mission is to nurture originality, transparency, and ethical creation. We encourage responsible innovation — but not intellectual shortcuts. Publibre believes that technology should assist creativity, not replace it. Every word published here must represent authentic human thought, expression, and accountability.
